Time to Start Your High School Graduation Smile

On high school graduation day the graduate, parents, siblings, and all family members are so joyous with celebration and of course many photos are taken. A major milestone has taken place for the young adult.

Now is the time to enjoy the photos of your graduate and their full smile.

The natural smile takes place naturally in less than 25% of the population. Most parents notice that something is not acceptable or are informed at an early age by their dentist, that their child has a concern and should be evaluated. It is not unusual fort the child and parent to have a professional consult but do not proceed with interceptive treatment. Time passes and the teenager is a sophomore or junior in high school so, now maybe it’s time to create that “Graduation Smile”. Orthodontic materials have changed and are more esthetic and more efficient than ever before.

Treatment time can be reduced with increased efficiency. Clear Invisalign retainers are now more efficient and can make a big difference in patients 12-14 months. Detailing can then take place after graduation. Graduation is coming and now is the time to make an appointment for evaluation of treatment options.

Local dentist Dr. Bob McBride and staff sponsored a fall fun run and activities with proceeds going to Kind (Kids in Need of Dentristy) in the Denver Metro Area. We entered our orthodontic team with 5 additional family members. Cindy in our office designed our costumes-Dental Grill Specialists. We were pleased to receive 1st place in team dress. Following a beautiful sunny warm week we awoke to cloudy wet Saturday morning..We continiue to sponsor Kind yearly as Dr Dankey volunteers at Kind Clinic on Fridays 9 times per year treating needy orthodontic patients for over fifteen years.

Invisalign Technology For Our Patients

The concept of Invisalign orthodontic treatment started in the late 1900′s but began active marketing to the orthodontic community and shortly patients in the early 2000′s. In our practice we started with patients who had excess spacing between their teeth… and were very motivated towards a major improvement without the standard metal or ceramic braces. Our first Invisalign patient was familiar with treatment as two sons were treated in our office. He asked for an orthodontic improvement without the wire grin. Invisalign treatment was initiated and completed. The patients needs were met with a big smile. From that time we continued to start more patients for treatment.

In the fall of 2009 and 2010 Aligntech made major improvements in the software support that led to noticeable changes in aligner design and retention. Our patients from day one could see a difference in how the aligners stayed in place initially. We also observed a reduced effort to remove the appliance for cleaning and storage. The retention buttons or attachments were mathematically designed to aid in retention but more important direct the tooth to proper alignment in a shorter period of time.

As the technology has evolved with proven results we have continued to expand our range of Invisalign treatment. We can certainly can see the positive image Invisalign has brought to our patients. Adult and teen patients look forward to office visits and receiving their new aligners. It is my experience that every patient can already see a nice early change upon returning after wearing the first two sets of aligners.

We emphasize to our patient we expect a very nice change with the original set of aligners that may range from 10 to 28 plus aligners. Each set of aligners is normally worn for two weeks. After the last set of aligners, we re-evaluate the progress and consider refinement aligners included in the treatment fee. Refinement aligners are approximately 10-20 aligners as needed. The final refinement is utilized to obtain the desired result that meets the patients needs and insures a stable change longterm.

Invisalign has proven to be an outstanding treatment with exceptional patient cooperation.
